Since news of Clippers owner Donald Sterling and his racist remarks came out earlier, we’ve been waiting all day to hear from the floor general of the Clippers, Chris Paul, and his coach Doc Rivers. They both have spoken out about the issue
CP3 has issued a statement:
“On behalf of the National Basketball Players Association, this is a very serious issue which we will address aggressively. We have asked Mayor Kevin Johnson to expand his responsibilities with the NBPA, to determine our response and our next steps. As players, we owe it to our teams and our fans to keep our focus on our game, the playoffs, and a drive to the Finals.”
Statement from Doc Rivers:
“Were not happy with any of it. Were going to let the due process happen.” Doc added that “it upsets me and upsets this team.” Doc added it is a “distraction” but the Clippers team will not boycott and will play game 4 of their series against the Warriors. He said the topic was brought up but he was against it.
“JJ Redick was just pissed as Chris Paul.” Letting everyone know the racist remarks did not only offend the black players. “In a weird way golden state is having a ball right now because we are not talking about them”.
